THE FURZEHILL SHETLAND FLOCK

The Furzehill Shetland flock was started a few years ago with six shearlings to help keep the grass down,eight months later a young ram Willowcroft Corbyn joined us and started work straight away, five months further on from six ewes we now had six sets of twins.Twelve months further down the line we saw a black gulmoget and decided this was the colour and markings that we wanted to breed.May 06 saw the start of our gulmogets Birchwood Katie with her twins and sister Birchwood Lucinder with her two week old tiny black gulmget ewe lamb Birchwood Nina joined the ever increasing flock.

Lucinders lamb has done us proud her first outing to North Devon Show was a big success taking the championship and the following year reserve champion at the Royal Bath &West,followed by a first with her first set of twins.

We attend about five or six shows a year and we are very pleased with our results.

We now have several moorit and black gulmogets with a sprinkle of other colours.Are aim is to try and improve the quality of our fleeces without losing the wonderful qualities of our beautiful shetlands.

We sometimes have breeding stock for sale also seasonal lamb from October,and raw fleeces for handspinning.
